Scrying is the art of gaining psychic information by gazing, usually at a reflective surface. The first record we have of the art of scrying is from the 10th century. Witches have used many different tools in order to scry: the crystal ball, the black mirror, or a bowl of water are all commonly employed. At times, scrying is done by peering into a bonfire, staring at the flickering flame of a candle, or even watching the shapes formed by clouds.
